OUR STORY

Relevé Dancewear was the culmination of a lifelong dream for Katherine Herring. Having danced and cheered for many years, Katherine was still passionate about the arts. After watching her children develop their own love for dance, she wanted to address the dance community needs that I was beginning to discover in this area. As a parent, she was tired of shopping in stores that were unfriendly and inadequately stocked. Her goal was to create a store like no other……... a unique shopping experience that combined quality, selection and customer service.

With the encouragement of her husband, the support of my family and friends, and inspiration from the community, Relevé Dancewear opened its doors in July of 2006. Relevé has been catering to the wonderful dance and athletic world ever since.

The name “Relevé” was chosen by Katherine's husband and means “to rise with a spring movement, to pointe or demi-pointe”. In other words, it simply means “on your toes.” It was important that the name of the store represent a positive goal for the business. When this dream became a reality, she had no idea of how rewarding my life would become while keeping others “on their toes”.

The support and response from the local community and beyond has been overwhelming. Relevé has grown from just being a dancewear store to expanding our knowledge, expertise, and inventory to include Gymnastics, Cheerleading and Activewear. We are building a trusted name in the Industry through your patronage and support. With the continued growth in the triangle area, comes the need for Relevé to grow as well. Katherine retired after 16 years in July 2022 and Amy Holcomb became the new owner of Releve Dancewear.

It is my goal to keep the outstanding service Releve provides to the community. I am so proud to represent this brand. I grew up dancing since I was four years old in the competitive dance world and then continuing my education in dance training at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. After graduating I have spent the last 15 years teaching dance at local studios in the area. I have such a strong passion for dance I look forward to serving the community and sharing this passion with others! I want to take this opportunity to say “thank-you” to everyone that has played a part in making my dream come true. To my family, friends, staff, customers, and community I want to express how very much I appreciate you!
